About Us

The year was 1927, and tales of Teddy Roosevelt's fabled African safari two decades prior tantalized young men the world over. That summer, a young Englishman named F.M. "Bunny" Allen boarded a ship bound for Mombasa, Kenya with dreams of becoming a professional hunter and safari guide. Allen had just a few pounds in pocket and no guarantee of employment, but quickly found work as a camp scout. He would go on to hunt alongside some of the most famous professional guides of his day, learning the trade from the legends of safari's "Golden Era."

Over the next 70 years, Allen guided many of the most interesting and famous people of his time through the African bush, leading safaris for everyone from the Prince of Wales to Mick Jagger. With his unquenchable sense of adventure, taste for the good life and, most importantly, a sensitivity to the people and the places of his time, he would become a larger-than-life gentleman guide.

Today, that same spirit serves as our guide and inspiration, and our mission is much more than just creating beautiful clothes. The pursuit of comfortable elegance defines our decision making process, and the notions of timelessness, simplicity and enduring quality serve as our guide. In an age of disposable consumerism and substandard quality, many buy clothes today that they discard tomorrow. However, our goal is to provide customers a product of unique yet classic design and enduring quality that can be enjoyed for years.

Our clothing is made of finest fabrics and sewn, primarily by hand, in small family-operated workshops by artisans, who, like generations before them, take tremendous pride in their work and share our same values of tradition, simplicity and quality. The result is a product made in limited number that gives the discerning customer an individual approach to dressing that has a positive impact on the lives of both its makers and wearers.
